Chapter 14

“Man, David will have a fight on his hands, if he even thinks he will come between me and Alyssa,” Drake confided in Weston a few days after I revealed my conversation with David to him. They were sitting at the bar at the Auburn Supper Club enjoying a few drinks and conversation.

Two women sitting at a nearby table by the bar kept giving them the eye. One was a blonde with darker highlights in her hair and the other was a big buxom brunette. They'd been shooting them interested glances the whole time since they entered the club.

“Keep a cool head, bruh,” Weston said glancing over at the women and giving them a pleasant smile.

“Damn man. Don’t encourage them," Drake said sipping from his scotch on the rocks. "And, I’m as cool as it gets.”

“All I did was smile,” Wes chuckled taking a swig from his bottled beer.

“Yeah, well take another look,” Drake said. "They are heading our way.

“Hi fellas,” the blonde-headed woman said and the big buxom brunette followed suit.

Weston grinned with amusement glancing over at Drake before greeting the ladies with a friendly smile.

“I’m Trisha," the blonde offered. "And this is my best friend Stephanie. We were wondering if you good looking fellows would like to have dinner with us,” she asked seeming to be the spokesperson for them both.

Drake swiveled his stool around and greeted the ladies without introducing himself. "I’m sorry ladies, but I’m happily married," he said exposing his left hand of his ring finger. "I don’t think my wife would appreciate me having dinner with two beautiful ladies."

Weston cleared his throat before holding up his ring finger, as well. He looked sheepishly over at Drake with a warning look before speaking. “But since you lovely ladies were nice enough to come over and introduce yourself, I’m going to take care of your bill for tonight." Weston quickly got the attention of a nearby waiter. “Whatever these two beautiful ladies want, put it on my tab,” he said to the waiter at hand.

“Thank you so much,” the ladies chorused at once before swishing off to their table to place their order. They threw a wistful look over their shoulders before waving their thanks once again.

“Didn’t I tell you not to encourage them, Wes?” Drake asked while nursing his drink.

“Yeah, you did,” Weston admitted before ordering them another round of drinks.

“I think it’s time for me and David McRay to have a little one-on-one talk," Drake said getting back on the topic they were on before they were interrupted. "Alyssa wants me to let her meet this character and let her handle it. I don’t think I can do that," he said turning up his scotch in one gulp.

“Man, you better slow it down. I don’t want to have to carry you out of here,” Wes said.

"I’m fine man,” Drake’s words were beginning to slur slightly as he ordered his next drink. That time a double scotch.

“Make this one his last,” Wes said to the bartender who nodded his head with understanding.
